I was attending Hofstra as a sophmore. I remember the day of the attack vividly. I was in class and someone barged in and said a plane hit the WTC and that they can see the smoke from the higher floors of the building. Everyone assumed it was an accident. This was obv. before smart phones, so after class everyone was watching on TV in the Zarb building lobby. That was when I realized that it was a terror attack. Aside from the TV images, ithe hundreds of fire trucks and police vehicles that were passing through hempstead turnpike to NYC is what made me realize that severity of the attack.

"black lives matter" and Black Lives Matter organization are extremely two different representations. 1) "black lives matter" statement is about understanding the darker (black) individual of today from many backgrounds that are currently receiving discrimination based on a historical labeling on black slaves in the past. 2) Black Lives Matter organization purpose is to mainly focus on the Black American and African American individual with purpose to cancel current views such as family, religion, believe, etc. Celebrities are manipulating words "black lives matter" by writing Black Lives Matter which means they are sponsoring the organization.

Your bigger problem is your tendency to entertain all other factors affecting your community before addressing your historically failing culture. How many more centuries of embracing self defeating behaviors and attitudes before you realize your shortcomings?

The more you protest the bigger the division between Blacks and Whites. Keep protesting.
